Chris “Bubba” Carver Training Funds

Christopher “Bubba” Eugene Carver, 54, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021.

Bubba was born and raised in Haywood County on Oct. 3, 1967, to Hugh Carver and the late Clara Rich Carver. Bubba was a 37-year veteran of the Maggie Valley Fire and Rescue, serving as chief for over 15 years. Bubba was instrumental in the progression of the fire department from a small volunteer fire department to a full-time paid, full-service fire department with 24-hour coverage.

He was instrumental in lowering the insurance ratings that he felt was important to the community and especially the older fixed income taxpayer. Bubba was a mentor to many young firemen. In so much that, he saw their potential even if they didn’t recognize it themselves. There is no way to replace the fine leadership Bubba provided to so many for so long. He had a heart of gold and nerves of steel. He will be missed!

With over 35 years each, both Tim and Victor Carver continue Bubba's family legacy serving the Maggie Valley Fire and Rescue agency. 

Bubba CARRYING THE TORCH- Bubba began is 40-year career with at the Maggie Valley Fire and Rescue at the age of 14 as a junior firefighter. The tradition lives on today with junior firefighters like these kids pictured outside Bubba’s funeral.

The young Firefighters looked up to Bubba. He took them under his wing nurtured and brought them up. It is said that "Bubba" was a big man with an even bigger heart".

Today the members of the Maggie Valley Fire and Rescue continue serving the community, remembering Bubba’s legacy, fostering unity, staying focused and both feet in the fire!

The purpose of the The Christopher "Bubba" Carver Training Fund at Maggie Valley Fore & Rescue, Inc was established in 2022 by the Carver family in remembrance of "Bubba" Carver to assist members in good standing and those deserving members of the Maggie Valley Fire & Rescue, Inc with certification and training needs.

Christopher "Bubba" Carver Training Fund is financed from a Donation Account set up in Bubba's memory, this is also an "Open Fund" for growth and contributions to be added at anytime from donations and other sources.
